The University of Queensland Cricket Club defeated Redlands but were undone by a former player against Gold Coast on the final weekend of the Twenty20 competition last Sunday at Redlands.

In the morning match, former UQCC all-rounder Nick Buchanan was the bogeyman as the Dolphins completed an eight-wicket win over Team UQ.

After posting a solid 151 on the back of a powerful 51-ball 73 from Peter Forrest, UQCC was out-muscled by an impressive Buchanan slog-fest.

The man mountain hit three 4s and seven 6s enroute to 73 off just 40 balls, before Gold Coast captain Nick Stevens (46 not out) finished the job.

UQCC gained some consolation in the second match however when they disposed of Redlands.

Batting first, Forrest (37), Jano Coetzee (28), Scott Henry (25) and Michael Philipson (23) all made useful contributions to a competitive total of 5 for 152.

Scott Walter (2 for 31) and Sam Moyle (2 for 32) then ensured the chase would not be a victorious one as Redlands fell short at 6 for 150.

UQCC finished in fourth place on the T20 ladder, with two wash-outs proving a thorn in their side.
