WALTER WHIPS SOUTHS IN T20
Date of Event : Mon Dec 12, 2016 2:11PM

The University of Queensland Cricket Club accounted for Souths on the second weekend of the Twenty20 competition last Saturday at Fairfield.

An under-prepared wicket made life difficult for both sides although UQCC captain Michael Philipson would have felt more comfortable when he won the toss and inserted the home side.

His demon quick Scott Walter would prove far too good on a pitch providing the fast men assistance, and his 3 for 8 off 4 overs did all the early damage.

Sam Moyle, Devon Endersby and Philipson all offered support as the Magpies were completely outclassed for 78.

In reply, experienced head Peter Forrest (28 not out) and in-form middle-order bat Jano Coetzee (20 not out) guided Team UQ home for the seven-wicket win with more than seven overs to spare.

In the afternoon match against Wynnum Manly, unfit conditions saw the match abandoned with both sides sharing the points.
